Theresa Dethlefs, Legal Assistant
Theresa is a lifelong Nebraska resident. She began her legal career working for Matthew G. Miller as a secretary in 2009 and later as a legal assistant in 2013, gaining first-hand knowledge about civil law and specifically personal injury. She left for a short time to continue her college studies and graduated with an associate degree in 2013. Theresa then went on to graduate magna cum laude with her Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2015. Theresa now continues her work at Ausman Law Firm, bringing with her all her experience from working for Mr. Miller. She strives to work hard with the team to advocate for everyone that contacts our office and walks through our doors.
In her free time, she enjoys reading (especially mystery novels), making memories with family and friends, going to concerts, and cheering on her favorite sports teams – Go Big Red & On Wisconsin!
Ann Valla, Paralegal
Ann is an Omaha native who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Paralegal Studies from the College of St. Mary in 1991. She obtained a position at an established insurance defense firm and for 12 years worked almost exclusively defending personal injury and medical malpractice cases. During that time, she gained first-hand knowledge and experience regarding the tactics insurance companies use to minimize pay-outs to injured people. In 2004, Ann left the defense firm and began working with personal injury attorney, Matt Miller. Before joining forces with Ausman Law Firm in 2022, Ann worked extensively with Mr. Miller on a wide range of personal injury cases, usually stemming from auto, truck and motorcycle collisions. She is convinced that her time at the defense firm early in her career better prepared her for the honorable responsibility that comes with helping injured people.
As part of the Ausman Law Firm team, Ann strives to provide competent and compassionate assistance to all clients, as if they were family. It is important to her that clients feel like they are being taken care of. In her spare time, Ann enjoys time with her family, home renovation projects and helping the elderly in our community.
Mary Allen, Legal Administrative Assistant
Mary was born in Omaha and has been a lifelong resident. While raising her young family, she worked in the insurance industry, followed by several years of medical billing for a group of local emergency room physicians. In 2012, she began her career as a Legal Administrative Assistant for Matthew G. Miller, and she continues in the same role at Ausman Law Firm. The experience she gained working in those fields has given her vast knowledge and understanding of the claims process. Mary's favorite part of her job is greeting people with a smile and being the first point of contact for anyone who calls or visits our firm. Her main goal is to always make people feel welcome and heard. She is very proud to be a part of a team that genuinely cares about their clients.
In her free time, she enjoys camping, traveling and hanging out with her growing family.
